Among Us

Thiswas the breakout game of the year and also the deserved winner of a Game Award. This multiplayer murder mystery simulator is simple on the surface and hard to master. Playing with strangers or friends proves to be the gaming experience of 2020.

No need for fancy graphics or complicated gameplay mechanics when the core and gameplay loop is just enjoyable. Definitely check this game out for PC and Mobile, and now on Nintendo Switch. (Image credit: InnerSloth)

Call of Duty Warzone

CoD Warzone is a battle royale shooter and your go-to multiplayer FPS. Warzone has more realistic graphics than most other shooters on the market but plays as an excellent BR with tones of different firearms, vehicles, and many ways to modify your loadout.

If you're a fan of military-style combat over the more cartoony shooters on the market, then Warzone will be your jam. (Image credit: Activision)

Fortnite

We can't have this list without the definitive Battle Royale and arguably the most popular game out there. The map you play on changes constantly and each season brings a new set of challenges and ways to climb to the top of each lobby.

Fortnite makes many pop culture references like including heroes and characters from Marvel or Star Wars and even goes so far as to create a story around them. Fortnite is the king of collaboration and has brought so many different things from outside of its game into the world of Fortnite like dances, skins, and even live musical events. World of Warcraft

WoW is now the grandfather of all MMOs, at least the only one still living, but for a good reason. WoW releases a new expansion every 2 years or so and adds new items, mounts, quests, and monsters for you to collect and conquer, often reimagining the way you play your characters.

Now in its eighth expansion, WoW Shadowlands hit a reset button, sending players back in player levels instead of forwards. If you think it's too late to play this RPG, then think again, it is currently very easy for new or returning players to catch up with seasoned veterans of the game. League of Legends

LoL is a squad-based competitive multiplayer game and most gamers will know this as a MOBA. A team-based strategy game where each team chooses 5 heroes with a wide variety of skills in order to destroy the other team's base.

LoL has over 140 champions and is always played on the same map that rarely changes. A very hard game to play at first, and nearly an impossible one to master. Be ready for a challenge! (Image credit: Riot Games)
